Now, while this might be difficult with the holiday season coming up, you need to try to avoid traveling during peak dates. For instance, Christmas this year falls on a Friday. Traveling on that day itself can be a lot cheaper than traveling on Christmas Eve.
If that simply cannot be done, then just try to book your flight — or train reservations — as early as you can. The closer you get to any given holiday, the more expensive the fares are going to be, naturally — both to and from your destination. Locking your tickets in early is the only way to ensure a good deal.
At this date, it may still be early enough to get a good deal for late December — if you are very, very lucky — no matter which holiday you will be celebrating.
